The brewery Zoltners has been a dream cherished for twenty years. It carries the name of our family, thus brewing is highly honourable, so that we always feel proud to present the beer for others.

You cannot rush things in Zemgale, grains ripen slowly. Also Zoltners is made to be enjoyed without rush. Coupled with good food and conversations – savouring each sip. The beer varieties offered will complement both meat and fish dishes alike, presenting a healthy challenge to wine.

Zoltners beer stems from the heart of our region. Combining the power of the refreshing wind, lush crops and fertile soil, we are proud to present our three beer varieties – Zoltners Light, Original and Dark beer. Now available also in some of the best restaurants of Riga.

Light, Original and Dark – anyone can find a flavour of their taste. 

Zoltners Light

A refreshing, straw-coloured lager with intense hop flavour, which tastes of freedom from the daily rush, whatever the season. Original gravity – 11%, alcohol content – 4.2% by volume.

Zoltners Original

A lager with a balanced, clean taste. Brings to mind an embodiment of strength and independence. An interaction between subtle, barely perceptible hop bitterness and local malt in which nothing is superfluous. Original gravity – 13%, alcohol content – 5.3% by volume.

Zoltners Dark

Solid and hefty – with a rich, thick and malty taste. A hint of rye-bread with sweet and sour nuances, and the balanced bitterness of the hop. Dense foam, the colour of dark amber and chestnut, a malty scent with a dash of caramel. Original gravity – 15%, alcohol content 5.7% by volume.

Since Zoltners beer is an excellent complement to various dishes, our chef has prepared a few suggestions.

Zoltners Light goes well with fish and poultry, in particular, a great combination of flavours with Spring Chicken, as well as a sea trout – will leave a dense, soft and sweet aftertaste.

Zoltners Original is recommended to be enjoyed with beef dishes – especially with beef cheeks supplemented with a tone of grain mustard and thyme to appreciate the balance of flavours and the sweet aftertaste.

Chef suggests to combine Zoltners Dark with lamb and beef dishes, a steak in particular. A refreshing combination of tastes that complement each other well. Also goes well with snacks – herb toasts, cheeses, presenting you with a sweet and spicy aftertaste.

These are only a few of the ideas for inspiration. We believe that there is always a room for experimentation and discoveries of new combinations. We do our best to ensure Zoltners is superb at keeping up the process.

Process.
Water, malt, hop and yeast. That is it.

The brewing process takes at least 30 days, and it is carefully supervised and controlled by our master Ilona Dabiņa-Bicka. The beverage is made of water, malt, hop and yeast only. The result is a lager type beer brewed according to the classic lager beer technology, following the German Beer Purity Law. All of our beer varieties are non-filtered and unpasteurised, which gives a moderately thick and explicit texture and a balanced taste. This is how the process looks like:
